Hello!
Speaker, trainer, award-winning educator, creator of the popular 'Exhausted, Yet Pursuing," clothing line, and upcoming author!
My background is in communication, theatre, leadership, and education. In 2010, I learned I had a passion and gift for helping people both exhale and see--conversations would lead to folks taking a necessary breathe that they'd been holding in. Advising and mentor sessions became a space where clients began recognizing their capacity and possibilities. In 2012, I began doing trainings to help professionals and student leaders be more inclusive and compassionate towards one another. These experiences, coupled with some beautiful and painful life experiences, has made me the speaker and trainer that I am today. In a room full of 500 or 5, I make each audience member feel like I truly see and value them. In this world, that kind of care makes a lasting difference. It's that kind of genuine compassion, coupled with practical tools and wisdom, that can lead to transformation. And that's what I'm all about.
Dr. B
I help people see people by providing explosive and engaging, trainings, workshops, and keynotes that inspire, challenge, and provoke attendees into action. When we are able to recognize our own brilliance, it becomes easier to see the same, inherent value in others. This leads to better and inclusive learning and work environments, improved mental health, and creates room for all of us to be our genuine selves!
HOW IT STARTED
Rejection from people can often point us in the direction of where we're meant to be....
Born in Baltimore, MD and raised in Elgin, IL, Dr. Barber grew up well-versed in rejection, struggling with perfectionism, and feeling othered in many spaces. Led by a love for education and an unshakeable belief that love was far more practical--and necessary--than folks realized, Dr. Barber began working with students in higher education, working to connect brilliant, young leaders with the social capital and confidence they needed to transform their lives.
In 2019, she earned the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award for her work in the community and local college serving youth. She has spoken for organizations like LinkedIn, the Black History Family Festival, U-46 School District, District 300, Sowing Seeds nonprofit, and more. Dr. Barber provides customizable trainings, workshops, and keynotes that are all anchored in the same truth she holds dear--every person is brilliant. Every person has something important to say. And there is ALWAYS time to see people.
